November 17, 2012: Chiaroscuro, a concert of chamber music by Jan Jirasek and Paul Salerni featuring the Vega String Quartet and friends. Included on the program were Jan’s new string quartet (Fragile Balance) commissioned by the Quartet, his piece Forgotten Metaphor (violin/piano) and the following pieces of mine:  Generation (soprano, string quartet)–the world premiere of a song cycle on poems about family by Annie Reiner; Up and Dancing (alto sax, contrabass, string quartet)–a piece about Domenic at the age of one; Regimen Sanitatis Salerni (soprano/string quartet)–a song cycle on Italian poems about a healthy diet; The Animal Struck with the Plague (bass clarinet/string quartet)–a movement from my recent ballet FABLES; and Turns (flute, guitar, string quartet).  Baker Hall, Zoellner Arts Center, Lehigh University, Bethlehem, PA.

November 9, 10, 11, 2012:  The Life and Love of Joe Coogan, one-act opera on an episode from the Dick Van Dyke show written by Carl Reiner and adapted by librettist Kate Light. This one-act “sitcom” opera was paired with Douglas Moore’s one-act “soap opera” opera called Gallantry. The performance was by the Otterbein University Opera Theater. Batelle Fine Arts Center, Otterbein University, Westerville, OH.
